The Occasional Drop was created in 2011 by Rowan Thompson.
Rowan began working in the wine industry in 2002 when she became manager of the St Albans branch of Oddbins. During 5 happy years there, she took her WSET Intermediate & Advanced exams and continued her love affair with wine and passion for sharing it with her customers.
In 2007 Rowan moved into the restaurant industry and further enhanced her food and wine matching skills along with some culinary expertise!
The Occasional Drop had been a seed of an idea for a number of years but in 2011 it seemed that the time was right to take the plunge due to, in part, some peer pressure but also a market demand for a service that took the stress out of finding the ideal drinks for an occasion without having to commit to one particular supplier.
In the small amount of time TOD has been running, we have worked on tastings for Louis Roederer, Ruinart, Domaine Dupont Calvados, The English Vodka Company and Glenmorangie. We are currently working on a number of summer weddings and continue our extensive food and wine research!
